ASSITEJ SERBIA
The National Association of Theatres for Children and Youth (ASSITEJ Serbia) is an association dedicated to the development of performing arts for young audiences in Serbia and beyond.
Based in Belgrade, we are registered in Serbia as a professional nongovernmental organisation. ASSITEJ Serbia strives to promote the highest standards in the performing arts for young audiences; to support the development of both sector and artists, in this country and abroad; and to positively impact the attitude of the general public towards theatre for children and young people.
ASSITEJ Serbia has over 50 members, who come to us from a variety of professional spaces. From organisations such as theatres for children and young people, institutions, independent collectives, and festivals, to individuals who are professionally involved in the field of TYA, our members are committed to building the capacity of young professionals in the sector. Since 2003, ASSITEJ Serbia has organised various programmes and numerous projects, and we are delighted to be able to share this one with our international colleagues!
ASSITEJ Serbia Festival (FAS)
ASSITEJ Serbia Festival (FAS), a festival of members of ASSITEJ Serbia, is a national festival of competitive character.
The festival is open to different artistic forms, expressions, poetics, and aesthetics, as well as to different production models, with the idea of stimulating as much diversity as possible and encouraging the richness of the production of professional TYA in Serbia.
The concept of the ASSITEJ Serbia Festival was conceived in 2018, by the members of the Executive Committee at the time: Anđelka Nikolić, Bojana Lazić, Diana Kržanić Tepavac, Ivana Kukolj Solarov, Jovana Rakić, Milena Depolo, and Zorica Filipović.
FAS was born out of the need for a meeting point where we could establish a dialogue between artists, authors, creators, and arbiters of the TYA in Serbia.
Two equally important prizes are awarded: the Award for the Best Performance by the Expert Jury and the Award for the Best Performance by the Pedagogical Jury.
Since its inception, four editions of FAS have been held. The 5th FAS is planned as the backbone of the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2023 (Serbia), Turning Point, so to our great pleasure and joy, this edition is international.
